Take 2! Today the sky is clear and the sun is shining. We have decided to try again to drive on the Cascade Lake National Scenic Byway. It is pretty incredible to actually see what we were supposed to see two days ago under the snow. The views on the Mount Bachelor and the forests are gorgeous. The loop took approximately an hour but we couldn’t drive on smaller roads due to the amount of icy snow. We tried but our Jeep Cherokee was not high enough and the ice was scrubbing the bottom of the car. So we decided to stop before we got stuck with no signal in the middle of a forest. In the afternoon we decided that the kids needed to have a proper nap. I took the opportunity to check out the Tumalo Falls just by myself. I walked the 2.5 miles snowy trail up to the falls. It was beautiful and not too crowded. I had to hurry up because the sun was setting very quickly at around 4pm. I walked back partly in the dark but it was beautiful. Tomorrow we’ll check out another of the hundreds of trails available in the area.
